"not entitled"

Lockhart, TX. On her first day of high school, a young girl was placed in “Interpersonal Studies” instead of the art class she had wanted. She told her mom that she was very uncomfortable because the teacher was trying to get students to admit they were gay.

Her story traveled quickly among friends on social media. The next day, I was in the Admin office requesting to see the materials.

That was two weeks ago.

After many communications, I was told by school officials that even though I was  "not entitled" to view materials since I'm not a parent of an enrolled student, that they would allow me to come in anyway.

Although you are not entitled to view these materials under Chapter 26 as you are not a parent of a student in the District, we are allowing you to view the materials requested. Would you be available tomorrow afternoon between 1:30 to 4:30 or Friday morning from 8 to 11 to view the documentation at the Administration building?

This afternoon, my daughter – parent of two LISD students -- and I went to the Admin office. After some initial balking at her being there (since she had not made the request), we both went in and examined the list of 271 documents that were in a ChromeBook.

There are some physical books, but most material is online.  How convenient to keep nosy parents from seeing what their children are learning about.  A company called iCEV Multimedia is the source. Here is their full course catalog. https://www.icevonline.com/curriculum/full-course-catalog

The basic format is Lesson Plan; Vocabulary Handout; Teacher Notes; Student Notes; Project (could be several); and Activity (could be several). The projects and activities require the students to work in groups rather than independently. This can be a deterrent to self-motivated students, as human nature is such that less motivated students will happily take a free ride on others’ coattails. Group learning is also better suited to create future corporate lackeys who will go along with collective thought rather than create dissension with independent conclusions.

Notice that all classes are “Standards-Aligned Courses.”  Look again. This means COMMON CORE STANDARDS, which are illegal in Texas. The State Board of Education adopted Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS). In 2013, Gov. Rick Perry signed a law prohibiting the use of Common Core State Standards (CCSS). Then in 2014, then-Attorney General Gregg Abbott wrote, “School districts must utilize the TEKS standards, not the Common Core State Standards.” https://www.breitbart.com/border/2014/06/18/abbott-no-common-core-in-texas/

I was not able to make copies of the lessons online. So it is possible that the material is TEKS, not CCSS. But the website of iCEV states clearly that they use Common Core Standards. Perhaps the company merely changes out the CC label for TEKS for its Texas customers; that will remain to be researched by comparing the standards. If it is COMMON CORE, then LISD should immediately cease using this material or risk a lawsuit from the State.

As I scrolled through the lessons, I saw “SEL Toolkit,” “Green Power or Not?”, and much about “teamwork.”  There is much reason for concern.

The SEL Toolkit

At the bottom of the long list of lessons was SEL Toolkit.  This is Social, Emotional Learning that was originally meant to support troubled kids. These days one of the hottest points of contention is “Transformative SEL” that psychologizes children in a non-therapeutic setting, i.e., a classroom, in order to turn them into Marxist activists. SEL is not just a front word for CRT; it is far more dangerous as it is used to create color revolutions. This is an  unconscionable intrusion of family privacy, and bullies students about their race and sexuality. This is cult grooming.

Social-Emotional Learning is evil and must be stopped. It isn’t a nice little program to help at-risk kids deal with the difficulties of learning. It’s the central pillar of a nefarious attempt to remake and control society. Host James Lindsay walks you through a number of sources promoting and describing Social-Emotional Learning in unprecedented depth, breadth, and clarity in this long but crucial episode of the podcast. Join him to understand why Social-Emotional Learning and the mechanisms that enable it must be removed from our schools as soon as possible and the people who have implemented it need to be investigated and held accountable.

Lesson Plan CEV80303, Conflict Management, includes a project to write a 1,000 word paper on the conflict of “Green Power or Not?”  The paper is to be written collectively, it appears, by a group of three or four students. Sure. Because in real life your school buddies are always going to be there for you to help you write your business and personal communications.

Lesson Plan CEV80433, Evolving Families. Sections include “Economic trends,” “Social trends,” and “Demographic trends.”  What do you think will be discussed about social trends of the family? Perhaps that ‘Heather has two mommies’? Other lessons were Family Relations and Management, Family Life Issues, and Family Life Cycles. Where is the class on “Family Privacy”??

Lesson Plan CEV20076, The Beauty of Marriage. In 40 slides, I saw the words “husband” and “wife” ONE time. Once. “Partner” was the preferred designation. Not one word about the Lord and His design for marriage. This lesson was written by four women.

Before we leave the topic of family, one lesson in CEV30156, Positive Relations, has an activity to write Rules for Dating. These are to be written by the students, and no mention of parental input is even hinted at. In a classroom that is allegedly pushing the LGBTQ agenda, this section could be a powder keg of immorality.

One term that kept popping up in several Lesson Plans was “team building.” This is called consensus or Hegelian Dialect. Students must be taught to think as a team, not independently. Don’t rock the boat. Think what everyone else is thinking. GroupThink.   Oh, those boys from Columbia would be so proud!  Marxist John Dewey ("Father of Progressive Education"), James Cattell, and Edward Thorndike must be jumping for joy amidst the fires of Hades to see how successful their plans to turn the classroom into a psych lab have been.

I saw no direct references to LGBTQ etc, but as Project Veritas has shown us by secretly taping radical teachers -- "savvy" and "subtle" are the rules.

Jeremy Boland, Assistant Principal, Cos Cob Elementary School“Believe it or not, the open-minded, more progressive teachers are actually more savvy about delivering a Democratic message without really ever having to mention politics.”

Boland“So, it's subtle. They [teachers I hire] will never say, ‘Oh, this is liberal or a Democratic way of doing this.’ They'll just make that the norm. And this is how we handle things, it's subtle.”

Veritas Journalist“And that's how you get away with it?”

Boland“That's how you get away with it.”

Veritas Journalist“And how do you make sure the parents don't find out?”

Boland“They can’t find out, so long as you never mention politics of it.”

The lesson learned today is that ALL citizens should have access to know what is being taught to children in public schools. Why couldn't the links to the curriculum company, iCEV, have been online at the school's website? Transparency in government, especially when it comes to what is being inculcated into children, is essential.

As I stated in my letter to Sen. Ted Cruz this morning, any taxpayer should be able to view any teaching material. Policy at Lockhart ISD needs to reflect this maxim.
